From Madame Brillon
Monday 3 [i.e., September 1, 1777?]

Madame Brillon informs her lovable papa that the date for going to the Salon and having lunch at Monsieur Vernet’s house has been fixed for Thursday; on Wednesday the time will be set and the other arrangements will be made. Madame Brillon begs her good papa to come precisely at six o’clock for tea on Wednesday, because Monsieur Watelet and Madame Lecomte are coming to dine at her house that evening. Were it not for papa’s sacred engagement on Wednesdays, Madame Brillon would surely have pressed him to come and join her other friends.
