From Madame Brillon: circa 1778
Saturday morning

My good papa, I do not know whether Monsieur your [grand]son has let you know that I will not be able to have you to tea tonight. Give this evening to my amiable rival Madame Helvétius, kiss her for you and for me; but Wednesday at my house, my friend, and tomorrow at lunchtime at yours, and Monday at dinnertime, I want to regain with usurious interest what I will lose tonight; and the reason, my good papa, is that I love you so much that you have made me know and practice a wicked sin, which we call jealousy.

Addressed: To Monsieur / Monsieur Franklin / At Passy
