Dear Friend,

I know you have a Pleasure in showing your Civilities to Strangers of Merit. Such you will find my Friend Mr Gouverneur Morris, and I therefore make no Apology for recommending him, as I hereby earnestly do, to your Notice and good Office, which with your Counsels, as he will be quite a Stranger in France, may on many Occasions be useful to him. He will have the honour of delivering you this, which conveys at the same time my Salutations to the whole Family, and best Wishes of every kind of Happiness and Prosperity for you and all yours, from Yours most affectionately

B. Franklin

p.s. I forget whether I have before requested you to pay an Account Mr Bondfield has against me for Wines last Spring. If not already paid, please to pay it. I congratulate you on M. Necker’s Promotion as I hope he will [portent Peace].
Mr. Ferd. Grand.
