To Francis Childs (unpublished)
Philada. Oct. 15. 1786
Sir,

I have been much disappointed by the Letter founder of Germantown, who undertook to cast the Longpriner and Brevier near Six Months since, and promis’d they should be done in a Fortnight. All the other Imperfections were cast by my Grandson during his Vacation from College in July, but he had not time to do those. This Day I sent him to Germantown to enquire after them, and he brings me Word that the Longprimer is done and will be sent to me to-morrow: but that it will still be two Weeks before we can have the Brevier. If the other comes, I will send it by the first Opportunity with the other Founts.

I am much disappointed by your not paying me the £100 in August. Sending me Kollock’s Note answers no purpose, as he lives I understand in New York. I have sent it back to Mr. Bache who will return it to you, if not paid on Demand. You should remember that Punctuality is the Life of Credit. I am Your Friend and Servant

B Franklin

Mr Childs.
