From William Nixon (unpublished)
Carey & Cos printing office 5th. June 1786.
Sir

Yesterday I was suddenly taken so very ill, that it was not in my Power to do myself the Honour of waiting on your Excellency according to your kind and polite Invitation. Not being able to write, I requested that a verbal Apology should be made to you before Dinner, but I now understand that the People were so much concerned about me, that my Request has been neglected. I’m still so bad that I can not venture out and am sorry to be so troublesome as to beg, that your Excellency may be so good as to send per Bearer the written Testimony of your Approbation of my Plan for facilitating the Latin Language, which you so obligingly promised. I am, with much Gratitude, your Excellency’s obliged Servant

Wm. Nixon
