Priest of the Church of Ireland and classical scholar. Principal of the Dublin Academy in Dublin (c. 1781).
Franklin provided him with financial assistance after he had been captured by a French privateer on a voyage home from England (1781).
Presented Franklin with a copy of his book, Prosody Made Easy (Cork, 1781). Later dedicated the second edition of this work (Philadelphia, 1786) to Franklin in memory of his generosity.
Emigrated to Virginia with recommendations from Franklin (1783). Ran a classical school in St. Paul’s Church, Baltimore (1784).
Moved to Georgia (1786). Later became master of a private school in South Carolina.
