I did myself the honour to inform Your Excellency by my Letter of the 23d. Ulto. that my Brigg the Whim was repair’d and ready to take Load, but the produce of my Tobacco which I have sold, and as I mentioned not being sufficient to procure me a return, I Humbly beseech Your Excellency to apply to the Marquis de Castries for 50 or 60 Tuns freight, to take either here or at Rochefort in the Kings Stores for the French Fleet at Rhodes Island at 150. per tun, on the Condition the freight paid me here before my going away, because it would be some help to free my Expences here and my return home to New London. Your Excellency may assure said Secretary of State of my making the most Dispatch, my Brigg being one the best Sailing Vessels that ever was which can be attested by the young Mr. Munford and if Your Excellency and the Court of France Have Dispatches of the greatest consequence for the Congress, and the French Fleet and Army to be sent there, No One Vessel be more proper than Mine, and Shall ever be most Sensible and acknowledge full for all favours in my Critical Case if Your Excellency honour me with an Answer be So good to Direct at Mr. P. Borde my Correspondent here. I have the Honour to be very Respectfully Sir Your most obedient and very Humble Servant
