From Edward Bridgen (unpublished)
June 18 [1784]

Least Mr. Paradise should not be able to write himself I have undertaken to acquaint your Excellency that he did apply to the President and Committee of the Royal Society for the 5 last Volumes of the Transactions and I had engaged Monsiur Anduaga, Sec. to the Spanish Ambassy, to convey them to Passy, but when Mr. Robertson came to examine into it he found that the Books had already been delivered to Mr. Magellan who told me last night that he had given them in charge to one of the other Secretaries of the Spanish Ambassy so I hope you’ll receive them Safe.

I think myself much honoured by your remembrance of me, while affairs of such great importance demand so much of your Attention. A Lady at my Elbow joins me in Wishing that your Valuable Life may be long preserv’d, your happiness continue and that respect Shewn your Character which I hear is at present generaly the Case. Believe to be, My Dear Sir, with truth and Sincerity Your Friend and Servant
