From William Carmichael (unpublished)
Aranjuer 12th May 1785.
Dear Sir

Inclosed I have the honor to send you the Last Advices I have received from Morrocco. I flattered myself that I should have had the pleasure of hearing from you on this Subject. Your Excy. will perceive how necessary it will be to temperise at least with this Prince, until the Sentiments of Congress are fully explained. I have a Letter from Mrs. Jay dated the 19th of Feby in answer to one I wrote the President of Congress the 12th of October respecting Mr. Gardoquis Mission. Congress hath been pleased to approve my conduct in this Business, and I was instructed to express their Satisfaction to his C. M. which I did by an official Letter to the Ct de Florida Blanca the 7th. Inst. to which I have not yet received an answer. I hope you have received the Work of Bayer from the Prince Zatoriski. With the proper Compliments to those who do me the honor to remember me I am with great respect and affection Your Excellencys Most Obedient and Humble Servant

Wm. Carmichael
