From James Pemberton (unpublished)

Respected Friend;

4 mo: 2: 88

Thy message last Evening was acceptable, having intelligence of the Societies Letter, and feared it had miscarried; have delivered it to our Acting Committee, that a meeting of the Society may be called;

I can forward a letter to Govr Collins by a good opportunity to Wilmington to morrow morning; the Cameos sent me are mostly distributed; would it not be also proper to send a few of the pamphlets which I can make up;

The Ship which fitted out here last summer for the nefarious business to Africa having completed her voyage is arrived in some port of the Delaware State with a view to refit, and it is thought expedient to notify the Governor, also the Abolition Society in Wilmington that if practicable the attempt may be frustrated. Respectfully Thy Servant
