From Pétronille Le Roy (unpublished)

Mme Le Roy sends to inquire of Doctor Franklin whether she may be mistaken. It seems to her that he had invited his friends over to dine with him today. Since they have not yet heard from the good doctor, despite the note of inquiry that his little pocket-wife sent on Wednesday, she presumes that it would not do for her and her husband to arrive for dinner with the dear doctor. Should the couple be right in believing that such an invitation was indeed extended, would he please inform them and procure them a means to go there without getting soaked or covered in mud. This weather is terrible.
