In justice to Mr Sayre, we chearfully declare it as our Opinion, that his Model of a Ship, which we have accurately examined, carries with it many very important advantages & improvements, hitherto unknown.
That such a Ship would sail much faster, under any circumstances—would be safer in bad weather—must be vastly stronger—cheaper built—cheaper rigg’d—easier managed with the same hands, and more durable, being more naturally put together, than any ship heretofore in use.
And we are ready to acknowledge ourselves totally disarm’d of strong prejudices, which we had before in favour of the old system of construction, whil we decidedly approve, and highly recommend the natural construction & simplicity of the new
