From Jean-Baptiste Le Roy (unpublished)
Paris, January 17, 1783

It has been ages, my illustrious doctor, since I have had the honor and the pleasure of seeing you, and I am very bored these days. I wanted to go to Passy but, uncertain whether I would find you there, I put it off until visiting time had passed. Finally, to be more sure of spending some time with you, I thought it was best to ask ourselves to dinner some day that is suitable to you, either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, since Mme. Le Roy also wants the honor of seeing you. Please send me therefore a note indicating whether you accept my proposition and for which day. I am very impatient to renew my new year's wishes for your health and for all that is agreeable to you.

I flatter myself that I need not tell you, my illustrious doctor, how much I am truly and sincerely attached to you for life

Le Roy

Addressed: to Monsieur Franklin Plenipotentiary Minister of the United States of America to the French Court in his hotel / in Passy
