I Now sit down to inform you of my misfortune after my makeing my escape with four others from forton Prison by giving four Guineas a Peice to the Agents Clarks to pass us with the french Prisoners, when we arrived at Haver de Grave we went to the Comissary for a passport, after he had examind us he Orderd us to Prison where we Remaind Eight Days, and then we was Orderd for Brest to go on Board of a Man of war which I think verry hard of after laying Twelve Months in a British Prison suffering for our Country Cause I should take it as a very great favour if you would write to the American Agent at Brest, and Desire him to releice us if we should be put on Board of an Man of war as we want to git to America, Sir
