I now sit down to inform you, that we are upon our way for Brest, with the french Prisoner that came in the Cartiel, we are informe that the Comisary means to send us on Board of a Man of war, which we think very hard of after laying some Thirty Months others Eightteen Months suffering for our Countrys sake in a British Prison and after our arrival in Haver de Grase to be put in Prison and kept their Eight Days and know not what for, I think it is very hard, when we arrived we went to the Comisary for a Passport in Order to go to LOrient to get on Board of American Vessail but the Comisary would not grant it. We should not think so hard of it, had not the Comisary give Wm. Middleton a Gentleman that came the same way a Pass Port for Burdose, Sir
We think it is verry hard after giving four Guineas a Peice to the Agents Clarks for to pass us with the french Prisoners, We should take it as a Verry great favour if you would send Orders to Brest to relieve us if we shoul’d be put on Bord of a Man of war, as we all wait to get home as soon as possible. Sir We Remain your friends and Country Men
