From Jean-Baptiste Le Roy (unpublished)
Paris, rue de Seine, Friday January 3rd, 1783

Please allow me the honor, my illustrious doctor, of recommending to you M. Envier from Dunkerque whom I already had the honor of introducing to you last year. He hopes to take orders from you for Nantes, and he hopes to see M. Williams in that city within a few days. I wish you with all my heart, my illustrious doctor, the best health this year, and I hope that the year enables you to fully enjoy your successes and triumphs. I no longer need to wish for America's recognized independence and freedom. This great affair is concluded in the eyes of those who know how to read the future amidst all the delays in negotiations, and through all the clouds in which an ill-conceived policy could envelop it.

I have the honor of being, Monsieur and illustrious doctor, with the most true and sincere sentiments of attachment for life, your very humble and obedient servant

Le Roy
