From Turgot
May 26, 1778

Mr. Turgot is honored to renew his request to Mr. Franklin on behalf of Mr. Roulhac.

Mr. Roulhac is the son of Mr. Roulhac, a distinguished magistrate in his province, the Lieutenant general and head of the Appeals Court of Limoges. After serious study, this young man took up commerce. Nearly eighteen months ago, he went to Boston with the intent to set up shop in America in connection with the Raimbaud and Basmarein company of Bordeaux. He has travelled through most of the ports of northern America and went to Charlestown where he intends to settle down. Mr. Turgot requests that Mr. Franklin kindly send letters of recommendation to some of his friends either in the Congress or elsewhere to help this young man establish friendly and useful connections.

Mr. Turgot had also asked Mr. Franklin for letters for Mr. De Barcis who had left for America with the intention of settling there; but as his vessel was captured during the crossing, he is currently a prisoner in England and no longer needs to be recommended in America.
