About 14 Years since a Person of Chester (Mr Johnson of the Elephant and Castle) lost a favourite Daughter, upwards of four Years old, by sudden Death. Before Interment the Mother, in order to preserve a Memento of her Child, cut off a lock of its hair, which is of a Reddish Colour, and carefully put in a small Phial, where it remained untouched and unseen, near twelve Months; when to their unspeakable Surprize, it was found to have grown upwards of six Inches, and has continued to increase an equal length Yearly to this Time. There is not the least Moisture in the Phial, the hair naturally curls and retains its Colour.—
