From James Milligan (unpublished)
Comptrollers Office New York October 14th 1785
Sir,

I have made inquiry respecting the Certificate and Warrant in favor of Col. Cambray, which you put into my hands when I had lately the pleasure of seeing you in Philadelphia. I find that the Amount of both is due to him from the Public. And as I presume the intention of sending them to this Country, was to obtain a Certificate for the Amount, similar to those issued to the other French Gentlemen who were in the American Service, I shall direct one to be made out for him, in which will be included the Interest that may be due prior to the 1st January 1784, which will be putting him exactly on the same footing with the other officers just mentioned.

I have to request, that you will be pleased to let me know whether you would have it sent to you, or how you wish it to be transmitted, and it shall be immediately attended to. I have the honor to be with the greatest respect. Sir Your Most Obedient Humble Servant

Jas. Milligan
