Robert Morris to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Philadelphia December 9th. 1784
Sir

I have duly received your favor of the 20th. August and by the annexed Copy of my last respects, you will find that the Amount of your Demand on the United States after being settled at the Treasury I had paid into the Hands of Mr. Bache to be applied to the purchase of Bank Stock agreable to the Directions Contained in your Letter of the 27th December 1783, of which I suppose he has advised you in Course.

This being the case you have only to refund to the Commissioners in Europe the Amount you may have received from them, and this affair will stand properly arranged.—

It gives me pain that you should have experienced so great Delay in this Business, but it was not owing to any neglect or inattention on my part. Present my respects to your Grand Father and believe me to be Sir Your most obedient humble Servant.—

Robt. Morris
