From Tench Coxe (unpublished)
April 11th. 88
Sir

I feel great Satisfaction in observing that people abroad look with desire at this Country notwithstanding the disordered situation of commerce and government among us. Should we be so happy as to obtain an Adoption, and afterwards a revision of the plan of general Government, and should we resume our wanted industry and oeconomy I trust the present Scare of public and private distress will be removed. I will take a few days to turn in my mind the letter which you did me the honor to enclose, and will beg leave afterwards to trespass so far upon your time as to ask a few Minutes of your Attention to some things which have occur’d to me on the Subject. I have the honor of being Your Excellency’s most obedient humble Servant
