Mr. Brillon pays his respects to Mr. Franklin.
Here is a letter that he received from Mr. Didelot, farmer general, who is asking him for help in convincing the dear Papa to hire Mr. Gelée. I do not know if he intends to thaw [dégeler] out in America.
What I do know is that Mr. Didelot is a most gallant man on whose honesty and intelligence Mr. Franklin can count. He is incapable of recommending anyone he only knows superficially or who does not deserve it. Mr. Didelot is from Chalons; his father and whole family are still there which is why he is more able than anyone else to know about Mr. Gelée.
I expect to see him tomorrow in Paris. I would be much obliged if the dear Papa would have the kindness to tell me in two words what to say to Mr. Didelot.
You have surely just embraced my wife, my dear Doctor. Allow me to embrace you in return.
