So good an oportunity offering I could not resist writing to inquire how you and your good Lady, and Family were in these times of trouble, well I hope, and that every [sic] turns out to your wish as well in Public as in private life.
I thought to have wrote seperately to my Fathers Friends, but the time will not allow, as my young Friends Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery sail, this morning, will you be so kind then as to remember me to Madam’s Helvetius, Briliants, and to Mr. Grand’s, and Mr. Chamont’s Families, and tell them I wish much to hear they are well and happy, I should have wrote long ago, but have been expecting to hear news of all those that were dear to my Father from Mr. Franklin, but his stay in England has been longer than was expected.
An Apology for this letter will not be necessary, you cannot wonder at my atachment to the Friends my dear Father loved so well, and that I should anxiously wish to hear from them.
I am with every sentiment of Respect your’s etc.
