From Jean-Baptiste Le Roy
Before September 9, 1778]

M. Le Roy is very upset to have to leave for Paris without having had the honor of seeing Monsieur Franklin since his return. He sent to M. Franklin's twice yesterday in order to go defeat him in a game of chess, but both times he was not home. He asks M. Franklin if he has received news of M. D'Estaing. He renews the sincere assurances of all his attachment.

Addressed: To Monsieur / Monsieur Franklin / Deputy of Congress
