From Board of Treasury (unpublished)
Board of Trealsury January 14. 1788
Sir

In the settlement of the Accounts of the late Secret and Commercial Committees of Congress, we find it essentially necessary to be furnished with the Vouchers on which Messrs. Bancroft and Wharton (under your directions) made a statement of Mr. John Ross’s Accounts with the United States in the month of July 1779: from your letter of the 31st. of August last we were led to suppose that those Vouchers might be in the possession of Mr. Thomas Barclay: but from the enclosed letter from that Gentleman, you will observe that this is not the case. It becomes therefore our duty to call upon you for these Vouchers which must necessarily have been deposited with you with the statement of Mr. Ross’ Accounts: we request the favor of your immediate attention to the object of this letter. We have the Honor to be with respect Sir Your Obedient Humble Servants
