I am taking the liberty of writing to you to tell you about my health as well as about my trip where we had some problems. We arrived Monday in Geneva and I went to the pension [boarding school] the following day where I will do my best to work well and to please you. I hope I will get an answer as soon as possible from you. I am sorry that I cannot write to you more often, for if I could, I would. I am quite well, I hope you are too, as is Mr. Cramer, who sends you his regards.
Your very humble and very obedient [grand] son
