From Evan Christian (unpublished)
London 21st. July 1785.
Sir,

Immediately upon my Arrival in this City, I took Care to deliver the Letters with which you intrusted me, and am only sorry it was not in my Power to render you more essential Service.

This Letter will be forwarded to you by a young Man of the Name of Aislabie in the House of Parker Quinea [Quines?] Esqr. in Wilmington, North Carolina; He is the Son of a particular Friend of mine, bears a good Character, and he, as well as I would be particularly obliged to you for recommending him to the Notice of Saml. Johnston Esqr. Member of the Assembly in Edenton in that Province, so far only as the young Man’s Merit will intitle him to that Honor, in Case you are acquainted with Mr. Johnston. Your Goodness will, I am persuaded, apologize for my Freedom.

May God Almightly grant you an happy sight of your Family and Friends in America, may he lengthen your Day’s in Peace and Happiness to the longest Period of human Life here, and reward you with eternal Bliss in Heaven.

The Mail coach being waiting for me, I have only Time to add a Tender of my most respectful Compliments to yourself and Family, and that I am Sir, Your Most Faithful, and Most Obliged Humble Servant.

Evan Christian
