From Barbeu-Dubourg
Paris, September 1st, 1778
My dear Master

Please advise me by the local post what four thousand piasters in paper are worth in Boston, and if they could be placed in the public funds of the United States, what interest could be drawn from them annually. This interests me very much.

Secondly, I ask you, when you have the occasion to write to M. Williams in Boston, please recommend to him very particularly M. Jean Darcel, currently in that town, who is my good and faithful correspondent, a man full of enthusiasm and activity, a student of M. Breffaut whom you know; I would be much obliged. I realize that I have already recommended him to you last year, but you might have forgotten. I am with all my heart, My dear Master, Your very humble and obedient servant
