From the Abbé Arnoux

The abbé Arnoux requests that Monsieur Franklin write a letter of recommendation to some of his friends in Newport, Providence or Rhode Island on behalf of M. Petry, secretary of the French army under M. de Rochambeau and second lieutenant in the infantry.

M. Petry is a galant man, and one cannot speak too highly of his spirit and his character. Those to whom he is recommended surely will be pleased to know him.

Notation: The Abbé Arnoux.
