From Chevalier de Sauseuil (unpublished)
á Paris le 3. 7bre. 1779:
Sir,

Unhappy circumstances, which I should blush to trust to writing, and my wife will more properly explain by word of mouth, engage me to introduce her to you, in hope that as your country-woman you will take more interest in her, than in my own personnal case. A great deal it is in your power to do, if the feelings, tenderness and sensibility of your heart speak to you in my behalf, and in that of those whose fate is attached to mine. I believe you know enough of me, to judge of what I may be fit for, and pity my not being as yet employed, when so many much less capable want neither for freinds or employment. I am with the greatest respect, Sir, Your most humble and most obedient Servant
