Paris the 21st december 1779
Dear Sir

By Mr. de la Neuville I hear that some papers are arriv’d from America to your Grand father, and wish you might be so kind as to let me know if any interesting news are come to hand—You know my heart is so far engag’d in any thing that concerns American citizens, that this intelligence never be look’d upon as trifling for me—the last account of public or private affairs, I do consider as very important, so that I Beg you will be particular on any thing you may have Receiv’d from home.

When has the ship left America, and what is Become of the Confederacy? I very much want to hear from Mr. Gerard on many and many accounts—do you also know any thing about genl. Washington’s health?

Mr. de la Neuville desires the paragraph concerning his Brother might be printed in foreign news papers—I think the Best way is to apply to your Grand father, and don’t see any objection to fulfile his wishes—I like to publish those marks of a good understanding Betwen the two nations.
