As you are preparing for your departure for America, I must beg the favor of you to leave with Mr. Jefferson or with me, the Papers that are in your hands relative to the Prizes that were taken by the Squadron under my Command; and which were forcibly taken out of our possession, and restored to the British, in the Port of Bergen, by the Count of Denmark.

I expect soon to finish my Business with this Court; and the Papers I have mentioned will be necessary and useful in the application which Congress have directed me to make for satisfaction from that of Denmark.
