From Le Roy (unpublished)\a
[c. June 1777]

M. Le Roy has the pleasure of expressly recommending to his worthy friend Mr. Franklin the following persons for service in the troops of the thirteen united colonies:

M. De Beaussancourt, who served during the entire length of the past war in our troops and who was wounded twice by gunshot. He was most recently employed in Poland as Major of Cavalry. He is thirty-five years old. I mentioned his case to M. Deane quite some time ago.

The chevalier de Borcy, aged twenty-six, who has served for ten years now in our troops as second lieutenant and then as lieutenant in the Royal Comtois Regiment. He is very much in a position to command and raise a company of foot-soldiers. He traveled to the Isle of France once; he is a very good subject.

As for M. de Belle Ile, he is an excellent engineer in the force who, out of love for his profession, would be delighted to fight alongside the Americans. He is kin to the Count d'Hérouville.
