From Jean-Baptiste LeRoy
[Before Sept. 21, 1768]

I forgot, Monsieur, in the letter which I gave to M. l'Abbé Taglieri for you, to ask you a favor: to give me the pleasure of sending me at the first opportunity that you can find, a small provision of apalachine (yaupon) leaves, of which I put a sample in this little packet. It is for one of my female relations, who, knowing that I had the honor of being acquainted with you, requested insistently that I ask you for some. And as this plant grows in your Appalachian mountains, I expect that an American deputy should obtain some easily. If this is possible, I shall be infinitely obliged.

I have the honor of being, with the most distinguished sentiments of esteem, Monsieur, Your most humble and obedient servant

Le Roy

p.s. Please, Monsieur, give my homages to Mr. Pringle and have him make the acquaintance of M. l'Abbé Taglier[i].
