From Jacques Barbeu-Dubourg
March 30 [1778?]

I have the honor of wishing good day to Monsieur Franklin, and I ask him to allow Mr. Gardeur, who did the portraits of the Royal family etc., in a brand new way, to profit from an occasion to do M. Franklin's without bother, in the same session that he has set up this very morning with another painter, from what I have heard. I hope that this will result in a little bust, pleasing to the public and especially to his very humble servant
