From the Comtesse d’Houdetot (unpublished)
Sannois, 18 October 1782

The Comtesse d'Houdetot, who has the honor of offering a thousand warm regards to Mr. Franklin, begs him to be willing to have this package safely sent to America. It belongs to Mr. St. Jean de Crèvecoeur for whom he has already kindly done this favor. The same Mr. de St. Jean is also anxious to know if Mr. Franklin has received and approved of a book he had the honor of sending him on the hardships and disasters in America. Mme d'Houdetot hopes that Mr. Franklin's health is good. She begs him to accept her warm attachment to him. Mr. de Crèvecoeur de St. Jean's address is care of Mr. de Lile, Lieutenant General of the Bailiff's Court [Bailiwick?] in Caen.
