The three millions you mention previous to 1778 were two of them given and the third was an Advance on a Contract with the Farmers general of tobacco.

In the 3d. class are comprizd the Succours and Subsides furnishd to the Congress of the U. S. as a gratuitous aid flowing from the pure generosity of the King, of which the three million before the treaty in the month of Feby. 1778, and six millions in 1781 which Succours and Subsidies amounting together to nine millions of Livres tournois. His Majesty confirms its fullest extent as a gift to the Congress of the U. S.
