[illegible] I first undertook to [teach] in Your Excellencys Charity School I found myself incapable of demonstrating tho in the most humble [illegible] on the Smallness and Insufficiency of the Sallery appointed for me. The Honour and I will add the Happiness of being employd in any way by a doctor Franklin was too pleasing to permit me to expostulate with You Sir on that Head, and if I should take that Liberty now, [illegible] Sir You would have [illegible] to my urgent Necessity And not to any alteration in my Sentiments, for I protest if it were in my Power, to Serve for a still smaller Sum, I would; both to shew my Gratitude to Your Excellency for ing me into Business at a Time I so much wanted it, and to put in my [illegible] (by shewing myself not to be of a mercenary disposition) to the Benediction of the many poor [illegible] and fatherless Children who are benefited by Your Goodness this day; but it is not in my power, and this so rich a Treasure must be all Your own.
The little plan of Oeconomy I laid out for myself at first I can not persevere in for many Reasons, so I have been obliged to board myself at 2 Dollars per Week which for the last 26 weeks now
