Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes July 27. 1779
my dear Billy.

I inclose you a second & one third Bill which fall in my hands in consequence of Mr Ingrahams absence Vizt.

N5860Dlr —300
81120600
80120600
1500 Livres.

As it is not improbable but the First of these Bills came to hand when Mr Ingraham was here and may have been in consequence already paid I request you first to examine your Bill Book & if they are already paid return them to me mentioning the Date of their Acceptance & Payment but if they are not already paid, pray return them to me accepted tho’ they are so foolishly endorsed as will I fear make them of little use.—

In my last to the Doctor I wrote warmly about the Prisoners, who are here in Distress, the Reason I took the Matter up was the Report and what appeared to me the intended Impresions made on these Peoples minds as if the Doctor was a cruel inhuman Man who wantonly wished these People to suffer. S. has since engaged for the payment of their Landlady, but with the merit of doing it out of his own Pocket.—Inclosed find a list of those of them who are officers—I request you to read my Letter to the Dr of the 7th. April & last Past & represent the matter to him properly.

I am ever dear Billy Yours Affecy

JWilliams
