From Jean-Baptiste Le Roy
At the Galleries of the Louvre, Wednesday morning [July 15, 1778?]

Messrs. Kossakowsky and Strestsky, the Polish gentlemen who will hand this note to you, my illustrious doctor, are having Mme. Le Roy and myself to dinner next Thursday, with several academicians. M. Strestsky will show us his curious experiments with combustible air, about which I had the honor of talking to you. You should be of the party and these gentlemen wish it fervently. This is in fact the reason I gave them this note for you. Please come, my dear doctor, at their insistence and at my own. You know how I appreciate any opportunity to spend a few moments with you. Turn the page please I just received a note from Mme. de Marcenay who, disappointed not to see you, proposes that you come dine at her sister's in Epinay on Monday or Tuesday, whichever day suits you best. Send me a response, my dear doctor, so that I can let her know your intentions if you accept.

Addressed: M. Franklin, Deputy of Congress in Passy
