As the annex’d letter to Mr. Silas Deane, the Original, as well as duplicates of which, I have sent by not less than 7 or 8 Vessels, most of whom arriv’d in France, has not procur’d me an answer; I am necessitated to request, you will apply to him in my name, and on his neglecting to lodge the power granted to him, to dispose of my property, with our Minister at the Court of France; you will instantly, and in the most Publick manner caution all persons from purchasing the Certificates I had empower’d him to sell for me, advertising the numbers and value of each Certificate which I herewith send you, as it will then be unnecessary to mention his name: shoud Mr. Deane lodge the power as directed, please to send the proof requird in his letter, otherwise be so oblinging as to send me your advertisement, as I flatter myself it will enable me to draw from the Consular office in this City, where they are now lodg’d, the Original Certificates; I must request your forgiveness for the liberty I have now taken, and assure you that I am with great respect & esteem Sir Your obedient hum Servt.
