To Benjamin Harrison (unpublished)
Passy, May 1. 1785
Dear Sir,

I thank you for introducing me to the Acquaintance of so amiable a Character as Mr. Short. It will be a Pleasure to me if I can be of any Utility to him in this Country.

I beg leave to recommend to your Civilities and Counsels, Dr. Ruston, who goes over to settle in your State. I am persuaded you will find him worthy of your Notice. He is a Native of Pennsylvania; and tho’ he has lived some Years in England, he has always been considered as a firm Friend to Liberty and the American Cause. With great and sincere Esteem and Respect, I am ever, Dear Sir, your most obedient and most humble Servant,

B. Franklin

His Excelly. Benja. Harrison Esq Governor of Virginia
