Dr. Sir
My frd. Mr. Burk is with me & desires His best Respects, as well as that I do inform you the parcel for Mrs. H—y was seizd, He not knowing what it containd & leaving it with other things in His trunk when sent to the Customs Ho at Margate. If you had mentiond to Him what the parcel contd, it might have been savd. I shall inform Mrs. H— of this. Mr. B. is uneasy about it, thinking you might suppose He did not take due care of it; which does not appear to be the case for He has tryd much to get the gloves restord altho He was first threatend with the penalty of 100£ for attempting to run them. He was obligd to leave His baggage behind Him at Margate on accot of the seizure of that parcel. I am on all occasions yrs in very great haste
