Richard Neave & Son to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Bornier 24 August 1782.
sir

We did ourselves the Honour to trouble you with a few lines the 31st: October last, inclosing three Letters for Mr: Carson at Philadelphia—

We rece’d the latter end of May a Letter from Mr: Ridley Inclosing a Letter form Mr: Samuel Smith of Baltimore (dated in Feby: last) who, as he say’s, has bought of Mr: Carson the House we mention’d to you for £1000 Stg., & paid near £800 of the Money. Mr Smith say’s that Mr: Carson has wrote to us, to send him a Power to make the Title.—We have waited with the Utmost Impatience three Months, in expectation of his Letter, but as it does not Appear, or any Answer to them we troubl’d you to forward. We are Apprehensive the Packet to you Miscarried, & that you may have laying in your Office the Letter we so much wish to receive, for want of Knowing were to Address it. If that should happily for us be the Case, we flatter ouselves you will not take amiss the Trouble of this request & you will be so Kind as to Inclose it, agreable to the direction below, and if there shod: be many, a few lines to say wheither you rece’d that sent you last Year, will be esteem’d a great favor.—

Please to present our Respectfull Complimts: to his Excellency—We remain with great Esteem sir Your Most Obedient Obliged Hble Servants
