Bordeaux, June 8. 1778
Honourable Sir.

Presenting my Service to You, and at the same time recomending myself to Your protection, I pray You to do me the favour of sending me by Sea to Filadelfia under the Cut. [coat] of Arm of the 13th. Frie Provinces, as I am come for this reason from the Prusian German to this Port of Bordeau, where I abide presently.

I have been another time in Newyork in the house of Mr. Walthon in the time Havana was taken, but when pace was made, I went to German to sie my relations, and now as they are all dead I intend to return to North America, that I some way or another may live there and gain my bread; al my ability is, that I can speak seven language that is German, French, Dueth, Italien, Spanish, som Latin, and America English.

I expect here as soon as posible, and without doubt the answer of these my lines, as also Your most kind protection, and assistance as (I may say so) a ½ Patriot and Countryman, wherefore I’ll end my letter, that I my not any longer trouble You, and I am always Your most humble and most obediand Servant while alive
