London March 19th: 1788
Dear Sir

By the favor of Benjamin Vaughan Esqr. I have sent two Hygrometers made after the construction of Mr. De Luc, the Hygrometrical part being of thin whale bone cut the transverse way of the bone. I request the American Philosophical Society held at Philadelphia will do me the honor of accepting these instruments through your hands; and at the same time receive my acknowledgments for the great favor they have shown to me, by having formerly elected me a member of their respectable Body. Their certificate upon this occasion having been lately communicated to me by Benjn. Vaughan Esqr. I have the honor to be Sir Your Excellency’s most Obedient Humble Servant
