Philadelphia the 4th Septr: 1781
Dear Sir

I have received your Quadruplicate of the 19th february, though Mr Vieillard is not yet arrived here.

I cannot Correspond with you Sir, respecting the matters concerning which you have pleased to write me as I can only Know Mr Le Ray de Chaumont respecting them. My Correspondents will I hope ere long have it in their power to close these matters—You may therefore expect a final Settlement, So Soon as this can possibly be done, & I believe to your Satisfaction, though things have been So long in taking a desirable turn.

I could wish to oblige you, Sir, In any other Shape, As no one is more Sincearly attached to your family & friends than my self—Especialy to the Venerable Doctor, to whom I Beg you’ll remember me most respectfully.

Mr Bache has met lately with a cruel & Surprising accident—having been Nearly Killed by a thrust in the Side near the heart, from the horn of a Cow which he met in the evening Going up to franklin Court—The Wound Was Very dangerous, but he is at present nearly recover’d & out of all danger.

Please to remember me also to all enquiring friends in your Neighbourhood.
