Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes May 9. 1780.
My dear Billy

Inclosed are seven Bills which please to return me accepted.—

I am still without the Letters of Recommendation for Mr Aitcheson which you kindly promised to procure for me, I suppose your other Occupations have been too numerous. I wrote the Doctor some time since about the State of Maryland having taken some notice of me in the management of their european Funds. I have since seen Bills drawn by the State on their Trustees and these Bills actually lay for acceptance. I shall be obliged to you if you will drop me a Line on this Subject and please to say at same time whether you have yet employed any Person to copy my accts. Capt. Jameson in the Mercury Packet who sailed from this 19 Nov arrived in Plymouth N Engd only 14 Feb. I think the Doctor sent Dispatches by him.

Caroline seems to be at a Crisis pray let me know when you hear any thing interesting.—

I have recd Letters from Carmichael I sent Bancroft an Extract of the last which ask him to show you.— I am ever my dear Billy most sincerely Yours affectionately

Jona Williams J
