Sir,

Not being in Council when the order of which you have sent me a Copy was issued, I am not well apprised of its motives and Intentions. I cannot now see the Council till their Meeting to morrow morning. In the meantime, I think it would be well for you to communicate to the Comptroller the order you have received, that so the Naval officer not depending on the assistance of your Men, may apply to the Sheriff.
