I am sorry to be obliged to trouble you, but it is necessary to have your Evidence in Court to prove whether you did or did not receive of Messrs. Bache & Shee Damages on the Bill of 25000 Livres which you took up for them in Paris. If you will please to favour me with a Line in answer stating the Fact I dare say the Court will think it as sufficient as your personal attendance. I am as ever most dutifully and affectionately yours.
